Vintage Dane is a unique insight into the work of the artist, featuring paintings from over four decades of work.
The commentary is David Dane's own.
Early years
Almost 60 years ago a 5 year old boy, his mother and reed-thatcher step father arrived in Norfolk aboard a train called The Broadsman.
For the boy David Dane it was the beginning of a life-long love affair with the Norfolk and Suffolk Broads. The sights, sounds and smells of a living wetland.
From the very start the Broads fuelled the boy's imagination and he often felt like Tom Sawyer living by the Mississippi.
Early attempts to capture the magic of this enchanted area on paper or canvas were frustrating, but as with many other things in life, time and practice makes perfect.
1970 to 1979 - Emerging Artist
In his twenties David found enough confidence to hold his first one-man exhibitions in and around the Norwich area.

1980 to 1989 - Evolving Artist
As with most artists the style has changed over the years, early paintings were quite primative but eventually a very recognisable and distinctive style evolved.

1990 to 1999 - The Broads Artist
Living, working and observing at first hand every aspect of the Broads, particularly its many moods throughout the seasons, eventually David progressed to more successful paintings and became renowned for his work as the artist of the Broads.

2000 to present - Fine Artist
David believes he is now mature as an artist and is consistantly producing his finest work. Many people have described David's recent work as ethereal and full of mystique.
During the highly successful recent exhibitions some visitors have been moved to tears by the feelings evoked through the paintings.
